Shakespeare staged in the Romagnola language by Denis Campitelli

The historic Spinadello aqueduct offers for Wednesday, September 14th the show "“A threshing floor with Shakespeare” by Denis Campitelli.

“Trebbo” derives from the dialect word “Trebb”, which means meeting, gathering, vigil with friends.

In Romagna, until a few years ago, these meetings took place in stables where, during the long, freezing winter nights, men, women and children would gather to tell each other stories around the light of a lantern.

It seems that the most told stories, both funny and disturbing at the same time, were those that spoke of spirits.

People were convinced that at night you could “see” and “hear”… And now, in our days, while renovating an old farmhouse, an old manuscript is found in a crevice in the wall of a stable. It is Theatre. It tells of the spirits of Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and Othello. It is Shakespeare. Rewritten by the poor.
