Eve Arnold's Photographic Exhibition at San Domenico in Forlì

Photographic exhibition of Eve Arnold at the San Domenico Civic Museum in Forlì from September 23, 2023 to January 7, 2024.
The exhibition, entitled “Eve Arnold. The work, 1950-1980”, is promoted by the Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Forlì and Camera – Italian Center for Photography, Turin, in agreement with Magnum Photos.

The retrospective offers an in-depth look at the work of the American photographer, known for being the first woman, together with Inge Morath, to join the Magnum Photos agency in 1951. Through 170 photographs, the exhibition presents a journey through Arnold's production, which ranges from black and white to color shots.

The heart of Eve Arnold's work has always been the human being and the reason that brought them to certain contexts. The exhibition covers various themes, from cinema celebrities to fashion shows, from investigative reportage to African-American communities. Arnold began her career photographing models in Harlem, challenging the canons of fashion photography and giving voice to an often overlooked world. The exhibition also explores her involvement in reportage on families and social issues, revealing a deep understanding of human fragility and her own experience of losing a child.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 to 19:00, while on Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 9:30 to 20:00. It is closed on Mondays.
