Tuesday 16 July, 'La Milanesiana', conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, makes a stop in the picturesque Piazzetta della Legna (Piazza Vittorio Veneto) in Modigliana with an evening dedicated to "Raffaello", presented by Vittorio Sgarbi as part of the cycle "Rinascimenti e Scoperte" (Renaissance and Discovery). The event starts at 9 p.m. with free admission (booking required on the Eventbrite website).
Raphael Sanzio (1483-1520) is considered one of the greatest artists of all time, whose work had a fundamental impact on the development of artistic language in the following centuries. His style influenced generations of painters until the first half of the 19th century and his legacy is also visible in modern and contemporary painters. Vittorio Sgarbi, author of the book 'Raphael. Un Dio mortale' published by La nave di Teseo, will recount Raphael's life and art, from his relationship with his parents to the teachings of Pietro Perugino, from the frescoes in the Vatican Rooms to his passionate love for the Fornarina. The evening will be introduced by Elisabetta Sgarbi.
This event is realised in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region. This year 'La Milanesiana' celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special edition that, from 20 May to 9 August, will cross Italy and conclude in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The theme for 2024 is 'Shyness (and its antonyms)', exploring the art of listening and observing the world and others, as opposed to histrionics and extroversion. Another central theme is the relationship with Nature, in particular with Water. The Rose, the symbol of 'La Milanesiana' painted by Franco Battiato, has been reworked this year by Franco Achilli in harmony with the main theme.
