Guided tour of the Fortress, Interior Museum, Tower and Village of Castrocaro

The majestic Fortress of Castrocarowith over a thousand years of history, stands on a rocky spur, offering a spectacular view of the village below. Its fortified architecture blends uniquely with its surroundings, comprising three distinctive architectural works: the Girone, the Rocca and the Medicean Arsenals.
Inside the museum complex, visitors can explore the fortress and the arsenals Medici, the palace of the Castellan, the Courtyard of Arms, the courtthe church of Santa Barbarathe tower of the Prisonstroglodytic caves and the impressive "Acquacheta Balcony"which offers a panoramic view as far as Mount Falterona. The historical-archaeological museum "THE EAGLE, THE KEYS, THE LILY"is set up in the rooms of the Palazzo del Castellano, displaying weapons, majolica, paintings, furniture and antique furnishings.

The winter opening hours are on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cost of admission varies according to age groups, with reduced and free admission for certain groups.

Guided tours are available at an additional cost, with pre-arranged dates in January 2024 and group bookings possible. Dogs are permitted in the open-air areas of the museum grounds, provided they are kept on a leash and muzzled.
