FOOD AND WINE CULTURE
Our region offers an impressive variety of local products – from the Sangiovese, whose grapes are the main component of internationally acclaimed wines such as Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, to the olive oil from Brisighella, which is protected by the “DOP” (Protected Designation of Origin) label, is produced according to the circular economy principles and is renowned for its organoleptic characteristics.
In the surrounding area there are many wine cellars where you can try out the various grapes of Sangiovese. Albana, Trebbiano and Cagnina are further flagship wines of the local tradition.
Our region is famous for its countless fresh pasta varieties, such as tagliatelle al ragù (better known as “spaghetti bolognese”), cappelletti, strozzapreti, passatelli, pasta lorda, monfettini and lasagne – each of them to be matched with a specific sauce. Moreover, the Adriatic Sea boasts its own typical fish species, such as the fatty fish, the slipper lobster, the mussels from Cervia, the sea bream and many more, which are used to prepare delicious dishes.
Our traditional cuisine, characterised by simple, yet high-quality ingredients, also include pork recipes and cured meat.
