Medieval experience at Rocca delle Caminate Park with 'Eight castles for a palio'

Rocca delle Caminate in Meldola will host the evocative event "Eight Castles for a Palio between 18 to 19 May 2024. This journey back to the Middle Ages will take visitors through encampments of soldiers, with the company of musicians, dancers and jesters. In the greenery of the vast park, participants can enjoy culinary delicacies while reliving a bygone era.

The tournament is inspired by the ancient fights between the Belmonti, Ordelaffi, Malatesta and other families of the Romagna hills, during the period between 1200 and 1400. The skilled knights, representing 'eight castles', will compete in traditional equestrian trials, carrying the colours and emblems of their homelands. The spectacular Almoravide joust will be the centrepiece of the competition, accompanied by falconry shows, duels, markets and food stands.

On the Saturday evening, the Etilisti Noti, a folk group famous for their engaging Irish melodies, will entertain the audience with their music. Their participation will make the atmosphere even more festive and engaging, offering an unforgettable evening for all lovers of historical re-enactments, good music and fun in a family atmosphere.
