REBIRTH FESTIVAL • From Hong Kong to Romagna
Castrocaro Terme, until October 28, 2025, at the Castrocaro Terme Fortress
From October 3 to 28, 2025, the Medieval Fortress of Castrocaro Terme is transformed into an international artistic stage thanks to the exhibition
“Ice Paintings” of the artist David Chan.
The project represents his first solo exhibition in Italy, within the Feast of Rebirth,
a cultural initiative that unites East and West with a collective vision and shared symbolism.
The heart of the event is the monumental installation called “The Rebirth”,
a rice paper canvas over 100 metres long, which will parade through the streets of the historic centre carried by volunteers,
local associations and citizens in a collective flash mob.
This is a true community celebration between the Padiglione delle Feste and Rocca di Castrocaro,
which will be officially inaugurated with the participation of local authorities.
The exhibition displays Chan's works created with the innovative technique of
ice painting on rice canvas: a unique process that sees ice acting as a living pigment,
leaving poetic and ephemeral traces on the surface, a metaphor for fragility, memory and inner rebirth.

Why participate?
- It is the first Italian exhibition by international artist David Chan, in a context that fuses contemporary art and community participation.
- The collective work “The Rebirth” challenges the traditional spectator-work interaction, inviting the audience to actively collaborate.
- The use of the ice as a painting medium introduces an element of poetic transformation: art that is born, dissolves and leaves traces.
- The event offers a multidimensional experience: art, music, creativity, conviviality and local identity.
