Ancient popular festival of Terra del Sole: a journey into the traditions of earth and fire, Sunday 17 November 2024
The traditional festival of Terra del Sole celebrates an ancient rite of thanksgiving for the harvests and propitiation of the agricultural year. On this special day, the fruits of the earth are offered in the Church, while in the heart of the Piazza a large bonfire is lit, a symbol of ancient peasant traditions.
To enrich the festive atmosphere, the street market, the craft and typical products market, the food stand with local delicacies, the “Art'infanzia” art exhibition, the guided tours on Romagna traditions, live musical entertainment, street artists and the old-fashioned games proposed by the “Nonno Banter 57” Association contribute to creating a lively and engaging day.
The highlight of the festival is the lighting of the fire in the square, the “fugarena”, a bonfire made with the pruned branches of the trees. According to ancient customs, this fire was lit to thank the gods of the earth at the end of the harvest, after the grape harvest and the olive harvest.

Menu: piadina romagnola and polenta, and in the afternoon fried piadina, chestnuts and mulled wine.

14:45 – Museum of Man and Environment
Guided tour “Once upon a time in Romagna”: discovering the life, rites, traditions and crafts of the past.
Tour guide: Chiara Macherozzi. The visit will take place inside the Museum of Man and the Environment, in Palazzo Pretorio.
Reservation required: by Friday, November 15 via WhatsApp at 349-8087330. The visit will take place only if the minimum number of reservations is reached.
