From 27th to 29th September 2024 National Plein Air Festival – 16th Edition
In 2005, Castrocaro received the prestigious title of “Borgo Bandiera Arancione” from the Touring Club Italiano, a recognition for inland Italian municipalities that excel in tourism and environmental quality.
Castrocaro Terme e Terra del Sole, located in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, is a true historical and architectural treasure, known for its medieval past and its food and wine and hiking offerings.
Programme
Saturday 28th September
- 11:00 a.m.: Welcome to the Palazzo Pretorio of Terra del Sole with greetings from the Administration and toast. Reservation required.
- 11:30-13:30: Guided tour of Terra del Sole, a Renaissance fortress town, and the Museum of Man and the Environment, which explores the history of the Montone River Valley. The visit is free for Festival participants. Reservations required.
- 5:30-7:00 PM: Visit to the Fortress of Castrocaro Terme, including the Girone, the Rocca and the Medici Arsenals, with the possibility of enjoying an aperitif with local products.
Sunday 29th September
- 7:30-12:30: Farmers' Market in Castrocaro Terme in via Cantarelli and shopping in the shops in the center.
- 9:30-12:30: Geological walk to Sasso Spungone and the Bolga lakes. Distance: 7 km, Time: 3 hours, Difference in altitude: 100 m, Difficulty: Easy. Guide: AIGAE Guide. Meeting at 09:15 at the Tourist Information Office, cost: €5. Reservation required.
- 3:30-4:30 pm: Guided tour of the Pieve di Santa Reparata, an ancient place of worship with origins in the 6th century. The visit is free for participants in the Festival.
